Why is Forssa the perfect venue for textiles?

Forssa's heart beats for textiles and printing cloth in a very special way. The city grew around textile factories. First there was the Forssa company, then came Finlayson. Industrial fabric printing first started in Finland precisely in Forssa in 1861. The newly opened archive and exhibition space Pattern Center at Forssa Museum, has thousands of pattern sketches and printed fabrics from 1861-2009. There are more than 130 individual designers represented in the collection.

During Forssa Textile Week, the “Finlayson in Forssa” exhibition, born from the collection of industrial textiles at Forssa Museum, will show a selection of original handmade design drawings and printed fabric produced in Forssa textile factories.
